Are you looking to speed up your content creation process but can’t afford to hire multiple writers? But, you also don’t have hours to spend writing articles every day. If this sounds all too familiar, look no further. I run several smaller websites and was in the same boat as you not too long ago, and have found a way to streamline this process with ease. Trying to generate traffic for my smaller websites took hours out of my day, but fortunately, Rytr has eased my workload.
I’ve been using Rytr ai content writing for six months now to produce blog outlines, introductions, headlines, SEO meta descriptions, and social media ads. This has helped me beat creative ruts and publish quality content faster. So if you’re considering giving Rytr a shot, this guide is for you. Below, I’ll talk about my experiences with Rytr over the last six months and how to know if it’s a good AI writer for you.
What Is Rytr?
Founded by Abhi Godara in April 2021, Rytr is an AI writing assistant that can help you write various types of content, such as SEO meta descriptions, blog outlines, introductions, and social media ads, with a click of a button. Over five million copywriters, marketers, and entrepreneurs use Rytr AI to produce content. Most of these professionals give good online reviews, with the average rating on Trustpilot being 4.8 stars out of five. I found that these reviews love the quality of Rytr’s outputs and the easy-to-use dashboard.
Rytr is one of the most affordable AI content writers. You can get started for free without entering your credit card information. On this free plan, you can generate 5,000 characters and five AI images per month. But if you want to generate more than 5,000 characters, you’ll have to sign up for one of the paid plans:
- The saver plan costs $9 per month
- The unlimited plan costs $29 per month
Both of these plans provide similar features. You’ll access 40+ use cases, 30+ languages, 20+ writing tones, and built-in plagiarism and grammar checking. The only difference is the number of outputs you can produce. The saver plan allows you to generate 100,000 characters and 10 AI images per month. In contrast, the unlimited plan offers unlimited outputs and 100 monthly AI images.
Who Is Rytr For?
After using Rytr for the past six months to increase my content creation output, I feel like it can empower the lives of:
- Freelance writers
- Business owners
If you’re a freelance writer looking to experiment with free content-generation software, Rytr is a handy option. You get 5,000 free characters per month, so you can play around with it without entering your card details. When you sign up for an account, you’ll find several features that can streamline your writing process. Here are some of my favorites:
- SEO meta descriptions
- Social media posts
- Key generator
I’m a big fan of the SEO meta description feature. Sometimes I need more time to write a meta description, and I’ll ask Rytr to write one. It only takes a few seconds, and the AI’s outputs rarely require editing.
Rytr is also good at writing other types of short-form copy, like social media posts. All you have to do is type a short description of what you’re looking for, click “Ryte For Me,” and choose the output you like best.
Or, if you’re writing a blog post and want to rank on Google, Rytr can give you keyword ideas. Simply type your primary keyword into the box at the bottom, and Rytr will produce a list of secondary keywords.
Rytr also has an extensive list of writing templates tailored to marketers’ needs. For instance, in the left-hand sidebar, you’ll find that the Rytr AI can write ads, landing pages, product descriptions, and testimonials. Rytr can even write in copywriting frameworks such as PAS and AIDA.
So, for example, if you’re struggling with writer’s block, you can ask the AI to produce multiple variations of a social media ad and select the one that’s the best fit. To customize your ads even more, feel free to choose between different writing voices, such as convincing, appreciative, casual, and critical.
Another reason I like using Rytr is that it’s not just limited to marketing copy. Rytr is good at generating:
- Interview Questions
- Job descriptions
- Replies to reviews and messages
This makes Rytr perfect if you’re managing a business. For example, let’s say you’re hiring an assistant but don’t know which questions to ask during the job interview. Tell Rytr to create a few interview questions and enter a short interviewee bio and some interview context.
After a few seconds, Rytr will produce an output on the right. You can use this output as potential interview questions and expand on these questions to learn more about your candidate.
This allows you to conduct your interview without fuss. The same goes for writing job descriptions, emails, and replies to customer reviews.
How Does Rytr Work?
To get started with Rytr, head over to Rytr.me and select “Start Ryting.” Signing up with an email, Google, or Facebook account will take you to the Rytr dashboard; you won’t have to type in your credit card details.
Once you’ve landed on the dashboard, you’ll notice a table of features on the left. You can choose between different use cases, such as blog post titles, SEO meta descriptions, and Google Ads. You can also select languages like Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian.
Let’s say you want to write an SEO meta description for your blog post. Choose the SEO meta description option on the left, type a brief summary of your post in the block below, and Rytr will produce three outputs on the right.
In the example below, I wrote an article about the benefits of property management software. I asked Rytr to create an SEO meta description for my article, which is what Rytr produced.
These outputs require little to no editing, so I believe Rytr is one of the best short-form AI content creators. The long-form content might be flawed, but the short-form outputs rarely require editing.
What I also like about Rytr is that it automatically stores your requests and outputs in your dashboard. So unlike other AI writers, you’re never at risk of losing your work. You can click the “History” button to manage all your activities.
Most AI writers say that their work is plagiarism-free. However, when you paste their outputs into a plagiarism scanner, they typically get flagged for plagiarism. Fortunately, this isn’t the case with Rytr.
Rytr partners with Copyscape, an industry-leading plagiarism checker. Before Rytr produces a piece of content, it runs it through Copyscape to ensure you don’t get hit with plagiarism penalties. For extra peace of mind, you can highlight a text, click the “More” section, and scan it inside Copyscape.
Although there’s a word limit of 1600, I really like this feature. When I started using Rytr, I was always skeptical of my outputs getting flagged for plagiarism. So I scanned my copy directly in Copyscape without having to pay extra.
Multiple Content Generation Options
The first thing I noticed on my Rytr dashboard was the vast amount of templates it has. Rytr can create the following types of content:
- Blog ideas and outlines
- Call to actions
- Copywriting frameworks like PAS and AIDA
- Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn Ads
- Google Search Ads
You can even create interview questions, job descriptions, and replies to reviews. This makes Rytr suitable for various types of professionals like copywriters, marketers, and business owners.
This flexibility is another reason why I rate Rytr so highly. It can create quality writing in multiple fields. Writing a blog introduction? Looking to generate web traffic with Google Ads? Posting a job ad for a new role? Rytr has you covered.
AI Image Generation
Another major factor I look for when testing an AI platform is if it offers image generation. Most tools that provide AI writing don’t do AI image generation. So I’ll have to buy stock images for my article and YouTube video thumbnails.
Fortunately, Rytr does have AI image generation functions, and you can get started even on the free plan. You’ll find a section in the toolbar on the left that says “Image.” Click on this icon and enter a description of the image you want the AI to produce. The more detailed the description, the better.
Once you’ve written a description, click “Draw For Me,” and Rytr will take a few seconds to generate an image.
Areas For Improvement
However, the AI writing industry is still developing, and most AI writing tools have fundamental flaws. Here are some flaws that I’d like Rytr to work on:
- Rytr isn’t the best at long-form content
- SERP analysis and keyword research tools need improving
Rytr Isn’t The Best At Long-Form Content
The main weakness I noticed is that Rytr won’t produce 2000-word blog posts like Koala and other AI writing platforms. Although Rytr acknowledges that they specialize in short-form content, you still want to consider this downside.
If you’re mainly creating long-form blog posts and don’t care so much about short-form copy, Rytr might not be the best choice. Instead, I’d recommend an AI specializing in long-form articles like Koala. Read my detailed Koala review here.
SERP Analysis And Keyword Research Tools Need Improving
After using Rytr’s SERP analysis and keyword research tool, it feels like they didn’t put too much effort into developing them. It’s not as advanced as Frase or Outranking; it almost feels like an afterthought.
I’d like Rytr to develop its SEO features more in the future. For instance, they could allow users to view keyword volume and competition. So if you’re looking for an AI writer to optimize your content for search, Rytr isn’t for you. The SEO and keyword research functionalities are lacking, so you want to opt for Frase instead.
When I signed up for and reviewed the Rytr unlimited plan, I used these testing criteria to understand how good of an AI writer it is:
Ease of use: The first thing I reviewed was the simplistic dashboard that Rytr has. I considered how quickly I got accustomed to the platform.
Quality of output: Next, I reviewed the most important factor; quality of output. I asked Rytr to produce various types of content, and I looked at how much editing was required before I could publish it.
Cost: Rytr targets small businesses and freelancers who can’t afford to hire additional employees. So I considered Rytr’s monthly plan as I didn’t want it to break the bank.
Browser extensions: The last factor I thought about was the browser extension that Rytr has on the Google Play store. I tested it on all the platforms I could integrate Rytr with.
Why You Can Trust Me
I’ve been writing top and bottom-of-the-funnel content for around five years now. This includes how-to guides, listicles, software reviews, and comparisons. I was hesitant to use AI software when it started gaining popularity. But the more I learned about it, the more I understood that it could help me streamline research, writing, and editing processes.
